Chemically cured adhesives - Special applications
Excel
Fluorine-releasing special adhesive.
Excel is a highly filled adhesive that provides maximum bond strength through a thin layer of the adhesive. The substance mechanically bonds strongly to the bases of all types of metal brackets; chemical bonding to plastic can be achieved by using Plastic Appliance Conditioner.
Excel Standard Paste (Regular) has a thin consistency to allow easy application to the base of the bracket or pad. The paste, due to its thin consistency, does not impede the fit of the brackets, and its excess is easy to remove.
Excel Regular sets available: in jars (ERJF), in screw syringes (ERSF)
Resin is recommended – Post-etch resin is not necessary due to the moisture content of Excel. Excel bonds directly to etched enamel. However, Excel Self Curing Bonding Resin provides an additional source of fluoride and increases the bond strength to the etched enamel surface by 10%.
Extended working time – Indirect bonding of brackets, bonding of acrylic appliances and palatal expanders (RPE) require additional time that is not possible with conventional composite systems and no-mix adhesives.
Excel Regular provides the user with ample time (3 minutes) to mix the material, apply to the bonding surface, place in the patient’s mouth and remove excess adhesive.
All of this can be done at room temperature by mixing equal amounts of ingredients on paper or a glass plate.
There is no need to use a cooling plate.
Excel Herbst set for gluing large devices – in jars (EHJF) or in screw syringes (EHSF)
Contents of the sets
Excel Regular: 12g of catalyst paste A, 12g of base paste B, 7g of sealing resin A, 7g of sealing resin B.
Set contain 9g of etching agent (in liquid or gel form), disposable brushes, spatulas and mixing pads.
Note: The set for acrylic braces and splints does not contain a plastic conditioner, which is used to achieve chemical adhesion to all acrylic braces. In each set, the sealant can be replaced with Maximum Cure sealant, at no additional cost. The paste is also available in blue.
Items available for purchase individually:
12 g Excel Regular A paste in a jar (ERJAF) or in screw syringes (2 x 6g) (ERSAF)
12 g Excel Regular B paste in a jar (ERJB) or in screw syringes (2 x 6g) (ERSB)
12 g Excel Fast A paste in a jar (EFJAF) or in screw syringes (2 x 6g) (EFSAF)
12 g Excel Fast B paste in a jar (EFJB) or in screw syringes (2 x 6g) (EFSB)
7 g resin B (S7B)
SmartBond
Cyanoacrylate binder, activated only in the presence of moisture.
A one-step adhesive that bonds wet surfaces. SmartBond makes bonding in hard-to-reach places easy. It can be used to bond brackets to partially or surgically exposed teeth, molars, lingually shifted teeth and impacted canines.
- Moisture activated – no need for activators, primers, sealants.
- Suitable for use with metal, ceramic and plastic brackets and complementary elements.
- Excellent for bonding in hard-to-reach places.
- No unpleasant smell or taste.
- Does not change color during use.
Teeth, as always, should be cleaned and etched before bonding the brackets, but the bonding stage takes place immediately after rinsing off the etchant. There is no need to dry and keep the surface dry.
Activation of SmartBond begins after the bracket is placed on the tooth, when the bonding agent comes into contact with the wet enamel.
Application time five seconds, curing time five minutes.
SmartBond is available in sets and single syringes:
Economy Set 6g (2x3g) – SM-001
Mini Set 3g – SM-000
Trial Set 1g (does not include etchant or brushes) – SM-010
Syringe to refill the 3g set – SM-002
